It’s always good when the BBC runs stories about the health of children’s teeth and particularly so when the story features on their main evening news broadcast at 6 pm. In this case, the catalyst was a report comparing the health of children’s teeth in England Wales and Northern Ireland with 10 years ago. The piece included film about the good work being done by Salford based nursery KidzRUs, who not only encourage healthy diets but use teeth cleaning as a fun part of the day.
Then the cameras visited Revive Dental Care in Salford where I had the opportunity to highlight the still worrying numbers of children going into hospital to have teeth removed every year, but also to talk about the professions focus on preventative measures to improve the statistics still further.
